When an office closes, moves or shrinks, the IT is usually the last thing anyone has time for — and the lease end date does not move. HGC Technologies buys the laptops, desktops, monitors, servers and networking equipment, collects on a date that fits your timetable, and pays at the time of collection. Every drive is erased to NIST SP 800-88 and IEEE 2883 with a certificate against each serial number, so you leave with paperwork your auditor and data protection lead will accept.

Most of these jobs are arranged by an office manager, executive assistant or finance lead rather than an IT department. You do not need a full asset list to start: a rough count by type and a few photos of model labels is enough for us to come back with the right questions.

Send your list to info@hgctechnologies.uk, WhatsApp us on 0800 208 8010, or call +44 20 8090 9037. Make, model and quantity is enough to start; a photo of the labels on the underside works just as well. We reply on the same working day.

Typical office clear-outs we buy

  • Staff laptops and MacBooks returned by leavers or replaced in a refresh
  • Desktops, docking stations and monitors from every desk on a floor
  • Server rooms and comms cabinets — rack and tower servers, switches, firewalls, UPS units
  • Mixed parcels of working and faulty kit, phones and tablets

Some items in a clear-out have resale value and some do not. We price each device on what it is actually worth after refurbishment and make one offer for the lot; anything that cannot be reused is recycled with a Waste Transfer Note.

Working to your deadline

  1. Send us what you have — a list, a spreadsheet export or photos.
  2. We ask the questions that change the price — specifications, chargers, faults, and whether devices are still enrolled in your Microsoft or Apple management.
  3. Firm offer, then a collection date that fits the move, with our own van and two people.
  4. Paid at collection by bank transfer once our driver has checked the equipment against the signed manifest.
  5. Certificates and asset register sent to you after erasure.

Three things to sort before the last day

  • Windows devices: remove them from Intune, Autopilot and Entra ID while you still have admin access — here is how. Once the tenant is closed, this becomes very hard.
  • Macs: sign each one out of iCloud with Find My turned off, and release them from Apple Business Manager — Mac checklist.
  • Who signs: agree who will sign the collection manifest and seller’s declaration on the day, and make sure they know the devices belong to the company.

Insolvency practitioners and relocation firms

We also work with insolvency practitioners, liquidators and office relocation companies who need equipment off site quickly with a clear chain of custody. We can quote to and pay either the company or the practitioner, and copy certificates to both.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can you collect from an office that is closing?

Tell us your deadline when you send the list. We agree a collection date that fits the move and collect with our own vehicle and two people.

Do we need a full asset list before you quote?

No. A rough count by type with photos of the model labels is enough to start. We ask the questions that affect the price before making a firm offer, so the offer does not move afterwards.

When do we get paid?

At the time of collection, by bank transfer, after our driver checks the equipment against the signed manifest. If anything differs from the list we agree it with you on site.

What happens to equipment with no resale value?

It is recycled through licensed routes and listed on a Waste Transfer Note showing our carrier registration CBDU584637. We tell you which items had no value rather than hiding them in the total.

Do you buy servers and networking from the comms room?

Yes — rack and tower servers, switches, firewalls, UPS units and storage, working or not. Servers are erased component by component, including internal SD modules and management controllers.
